"I could have remained in Italy. But I never wanted merely to work in someone else's workshop - I wanted to create my own. In my own country." This is how Tim Fain explains his decision to return to Ukraine after studying under masters of the Italian Bespoke tradition. It was there that he embraced the essential principle of classic tailoring: a suit is never made from a template. It is built around a particular individual.

Global Recognition

The most meaningful recognition often comes from those who have devoted their lives to the craft. In 2016 Tymofii Fain was named one of six finalists in The New Sartorial Thread – Global Edition, an international competition for the next generation of tailors, alongside artisans from Naples, New York, and Paris. In 2022 he became the first and, to date, only Ukrainian member of the World Federation of Master Tailors. This recognition affirmed that Ukrainian bespoke tailoring can stand alongside Europe’s most respected tailoring houses.

Expertise Recognised by Peers

That same year, the work of Sartoria Fain was recognised by Bernhard Roetzel, one of the world's foremost authorities on classic menswear and author of Gentleman: A Timeless Guide to Fashion. For more than two decades, he has been writing about Bespoke tailoring for leading international publications. A Sartoria Fain suit became the central visual image of his feature chronicling a journey through Europe's finest tailoring houses.

When Craftsmanship Finds Kindred Spirits

The philosophy of Sartoria Fain has repeatedly become the foundation for collaborations with brands that share the same respect for craftsmanship. To mark the twentieth anniversary of the legendary Lexus RX, Tim Fain was invited to participate in a project that brought together some of Ukraine's leading artisans.

For the collection, he created a series of bespoke accessories - ties and the Bushido silk pocket square - inspired by the aesthetics of Japanese culture and Miyamoto Musashi's The Book of Five Rings.

I have known Tim for around ten years. He made for me many suits, jackets, bespoke jeans and other pieces, and I still wear almost all of them. Many are simply the best clothes I have. But during these years, our professional relationship became also a friendship, and I am very happy about this. Timofiy is not only a very talented tailor. He is a real enthusiast of tailoring. One of the most spectacular bespoke suits that was ever made for me. Cut and tailored by the extraordinarly talented and skilled Tim Fain of Sartoria Fain in Kyiv. Tim was introduced to me a couple of years ago at an event in Serbia hosted by my pal Degorsi. Our mutual friend Platon Alexandr told me that I must talk to a young tailor from Kyiv. This was before the war and Tim had just started his business. He made a first suit for me and then this one as the second one. The fabric is a very soft Cashmere from Drago and Tim managed to give the suit a very unique 1930s vibe. The tailoring and the details are excellent and very Italian (eg buttons hidden in the cuffs of the trousers to make it easier to remove dust and dirt). All in all a very softly tailored and comfortable suit including a well fitting waistcoat made entirely of Cashmere.
